Marriska Fernandes is a Toronto-based entertainment journalist, host and film critic with 14 years experience in the industry. She’s the host of Telefilm’s Maple Popcorn podcast and contributes to The Toronto Star, National Post, SHARP magazine, CBC Arts, EverythingZoomer.com, Exclaim.ca, Complex.ca, Yahoo and Elle Canada. She’s a Tomatometer-approved critic, a Golden Globes voter, a member of the Toronto Film Critics Association and the Canadian Academy. She was also a member of the Critics Choice Association from 2020-2026.
Marriska has interviewed over hundreds of actors and filmmakers, including Christopher Nolan, George Clooney, Viola Davis, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christian Bale, Robert De Niro, Natalie Portman, Robert Pattinson, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keanu Reeves, Regina King, Sandra Oh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Riz Ahmed and Jason Bateman.
She has also secured Canada-exclusive interviews, recently with George Clooney for his Golden Globe-nominated role in Jay Kelly and Christopher Nolan for his Oscar-winning Oppenheimer. Marriska regularly covers movie junkets, set visits and reviews the latest movies that release theatrically and on streaming platforms.
